By wordpress.com
The great spiritual teacher Bediuzzaman Said Nursi (ra) (1873-1960 CE) was a deep thinker. He read the Holy Qur’an with eyes that could perceive many hidden truths and from it he gained many profound new understandings and inspirations that he would relate to his disciples. They would write these gems down to preserve them.
These inspired thoughts developed into the Risale-i Nur, a six-thousand page long work, a great spiritual commentary on the Holy Qur’an which explains this Divine scripture in ways accessible and meaningful to many of the people of the modern age.
The Risale-i Nur collection would gain millions of avid readers across the globe and it was this book that saved the faith of millions of Turks who were suffering under the onslaught of the aggressive Secular Fundamentalist indoctrinators who had seized control of the Turkish education system after the fall of the Ottomans.
The Risale-i Nur explains the basics of Islamic belief and the blessed truths of the Holy Qur’an in a way harmonious with the modern era. It points to a positive and healthy relationship between religion and science. It provides answers for many of the questions of the modern mind.
It also explains the issues of faith and spirituality for all, helping the reader to understand and remember that true happiness, both in this life and the next, is linked to having a healthy relationship with our spiritual side and our Creator.
Confusing the proper place and uses of science and philosophy has caused much confusion and strife in the world. The Risale-i-Nur helps clear this confusion and helps raise human beings from the darkness into the light.
Bediuzzaman was a figure of worship and humanity, whose teachings reach beyond localism and are as beneficial for people of the West as they are for the people of the East. The Risale-i Nur has been translated into many languages and continues to help people in many lands develop into better and more rounded human beings.
The Risale-i-Nur explains many ultimate truths and guides the reader along a path towards their Creator. Through the study of the Risale-i Nur we may gain a new understanding of human life and of how to morally, ethically and humanely meet our human needs in this modern age.
