Explaining Some of the Proofs of Muhammad’s Prophethood

Introduction

Every act and state of Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, that is connected with his mission, proves his Prophethood. His absolute certainty in his actions, his indifference to objections—the fact that he paid no heed to the objections of his opponents—and his fearlessness clearly demonstrate his truthfulness and sincerity. In addition, he did whatever he did in accordance with the spirit of truth.

This great personage had absolute certainty in the truth of his mission, and so he paid no heed to the objections of his opponents, refused all offers of reconciliation and compromise, and showed no fear, hesitation, or worry in communicating his message, acting with an unshakable confidence even in the most perilous conditions. He always said and did exactly the right thing; he was always the first to practice whatever he communicated to others, and he established his message with his life. The seriousness, harmony, and consistency in all his sayings and deeds, and the perfect balance both in his life and his message are other irrefutable proofs of the truthfulness of his cause.

AN INDICATION

Both his own time and the manifestations of his message throughout the succeeding centuries—the magnificent Islamic civilization, with all its aspects—have announced the Prophethood of Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, in a single, harmonious, and truthful language. In the following lines, we will try to present some aspects of this language.

There are four basic ways that lead us to understand and affirm the mission or office of Prophethood in general and the Prophethood of a Prophet in particular. There is another fifth one, but since it is known and has been written about much, it will only be referred to in this book.
