THE SECOND STAGE: Five truths offering proof for Divine Unity

 

 

Then that restless traveler says to their heart: “The fact that the people of belief, and particularly those following a spiritual path, proclaim repeatedly, There is no deity but He, thus recalling and declaring God’s Unity, is an indication that belief in and affirmation of God’s Unity has many degrees. Such belief and affirmation is also a most important, enjoyable and exalted sacred duty—an act of worship that is required by creation. Come, then, and in order to discover a further degree, let us open the door of another mansion in this abode of instruction. For the true affirmation of God’s Unity that we seek is not merely some mental construct or conception: it is, rather, an affirmation or confirmation—called knowledge—which is based on proof, and is thus different from, and far more valuable than, that which the science of logic calls conception.”

The true affirmation of God’s Unity is a judgment, a conclusion, a confirmation and an acceptance which is such that one who has attained it can find their Lord by means of everything in the universe: someone who attains this level will see in all things a path leading to their Creator, and nothing will be able to prevent their seeing Him present everywhere. For otherwise it would always be necessary to tear down the veil of the universe in order to find the Lord.

“Onward, then,” says the traveler to themselves and knocks on the door of God’s Grandeur and Sublimity. And so they enter the mansion of God’s deeds and workings, the world of creation and origination, where they see that five comprehensive truths prevailing over the entire universe, offering self-evident proof of the Divine Unity.
