Major Asim (Bey)

Major Asim was born in 1877 in Izmit, Turkey. The letters and poems that he has written can be found in the Risale-i Nur, particularly in ‘Barla Lahikasi’ & ‘Biography of Said Nursi”. Major Asim served in the military for long periods of time. He served in Tripoli, Damascus and various parts of Turkey to name a few. Major Asim has written many books by hand. He was also known as the Postman of the Risale-i Nur. He worked very hard for the propagation of the Risale-i Nur. One day he was taken to court. The judge had asked him a question, which if he answered correctly Ustad Nursi was going to be hurt and the Nur service would have been affected. Lying was out of the question because his taqwa would not permit him to do so. He lifted his hand and made a supplication, which the judge was astonished to hear. It was as follows: “O Lord, take my life away”. Major Asim then passed away.
