Islam: Its Profile and Challenges in Multifaith Australia
As a part of his visit to John Carroll, Desmund Cahill has graciously agreed to give an additional talk on Friday Apri 12 at 5:30pm. The talk will take place in the Administration Building room 226 (the same room as the morning session of the Freedom of Expression conference) and is entitiled Islam: Its Profile and Challenges in Multifaith Australia.
After a brief historical introduction to Islam in Australia both pre- and post-WWII, Professor Cahill will give a demographic profile of the Muslim community in multifaith Australia based on the 2011 census data before outlining the many challenges it faces, including its role in the growing interfaith movement in Australia.
